Alghero

AlgeroThe old city is small and consists of about ten streets. From the port along the water to the southernmost tip of the city is the wall that was built by the Genoese almost intact

Located on the northwest coast of Sardinia, Alghero has become a major holiday destination in recent years and yet still retains its distinctive Catalan character. This derives from the influence of the mid-fourteenth century with an intense period of colonization from Spain. Today, Alghero manages to combine its role of tourist centre with that of port. This enables it to maintain a year round economy. Alghero has reputation for excellent seafood.
