Dagala Thousand Lake trek is not so much popular. It is not so difficult either but there are some long steep climbs. It is a 29 km drive from Thimphu city to its starting point Geynikha Primary School. The suggested arrangement is to drive to the starting point after lunch and then make the short descent to the first camp in the late afternoon. After the start from the Geynikha Primary School, the trail goes through Geynikha Village and other small villages likes Zamto, Chhochhenkha as well as rivers and streams such as Chhokosen chhu, Geynitsang chhu, Dochha chhu come across the path. The trail makes ascents to some valleys somewhere and sometimes, it requires a long, stiff climbs like in the route from Gur to Labatamba and the steep eroded trail from Talakha to Simtokha. The trek is more enchanting when it passes through forests, rivers and valleys and the scenic view of the Dagala range from Pangalabtsa, a pass marked by cairns at 4250 meter is simply enough to forget the tiredness of the trek. From the Talakha, as there is no direct route to chamgang, the finish point of trek, either a pick up vehicles can be arranged at Talakha, or walk three hours down the road with few short cuts where trails avoid switchbacks.
