Duer Hot Spring Trek

Duer Hot Spring Trek is an easy, low altitude 8-day trek, and an old expedition route to Gangkhar Puensum and a special permission is required to get as it might be possible to extend the trek to the base of the mountain itself, though this is a rough, difficult route. This is not very popular Bhutan Trekking choice.

The route starts from Duer Village which is 1 hour (5km) of rough driving from Toktu Zampa and also finishes there. It passes through a forest of Cyprus, juniper, spruce, hemlock and maple. Along this part of the trail between Tsochenchen to Duer Tsachhu, it may be possible to see musk deer, himalayan bear, and herds of blue sheep. The main highlight of this trek is the Hot Spring (known for healing properties). Hence a rest day can be taken to relax in the hot spring. There are several wooden tub set into the ground inside a rough wooden shelter.
