Huang Shan is China's top 10 sites. There are three choices to climb to the summit, but before you start hiking, make sure you have enough water, food, appropriate clothing and sunscreen.
1. Eastern Steps - It is measured as medium-fast climb from Cloud Valley Temple to White Goose Ridge. This can be done in two and half hours. Although the route is pleasant, but it lacks the awesomeness of geological scenery. Much of the climb is shaded. 10 hours circuit hike is the most recommended route which takes you to the eastern steps and coming down via the western steps.
2. Western Steps - This 15km western steps route has lunar scenery and twice longer route than the eastern steps. Western Steps starts from Flying Rock - Feilai Shi, and goes over to Bright Summit Peak - Guangming Ding. On your way there is a remarkably narrow chasm -a huge rock suspended above the heads of climbers. Lotus Flower Peak is the highest peak but it is occasionally closed. Linarui Peak is decorated with rocks and not to forget much coveted and staggering climb of 1321 steps and after that the view from the top is stunning which will make you forget all the pain and sweat you had during your walk to the summit. Successful ascents can be commemorated with a gold medal engraved with their names.
3. Cable Car - This is the easiest way to reach the summit. Just get the ticket and enjoy the view during and after you journey to the summit.
