The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail is a very long-distance mountain hiking trail that runs from USA/Mexico border in the south to the USA/Canada in the north. The trail follows the highest part of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Ranges. The total length of The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail is 4,260 km (2,650 miles) long and ranges in elevation from sea level to 4,009 m (13,150  feet).

Each year, only few people try to hike the entire trail from end-to-end., with roughly half of them succeeding in their attempt, which will takes between four and six months.

The route runs mostly through National Forest and protected wilderness, avoids civilization preferring instead scenic and pristine mountainous terrain with few roads and passes through the Laguna, San Jacinto, San Bernardino, Tehachapi, Sierra Nevada, and Klamath ranges in California, and the Cascade Range in California and along much more interesting places.

Just some points of interest along the route:

Kings Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park, Cleveland National Forest, Big Bear Lake (all in California)

Cascade–Siskiyou National Monument, Mount Washington Wilderness, Columbia River Gorge (all in Oregon)

Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Boundary Monument 78, (Washington)
