Eichstatt trekking information

Eichstatt is a city in the region Bavaria, Germany. It is also the capital of the district of Eichstatt. Eichstatt is the home of Catholic University since 1980. The city was charted in 908 and it was also ruled by a prince bishop until secularization in 1802 and it became a part of Bavaria in 1806. Eichstatt is famous for the quarries of Solnhofen Stone and Jurrasic limestone.
 
Places you should visit in Germany are:
Willibaldsburg – It’s a hilltop castle which has two museums. There are aquariums with living specimens of fossilized animals and 6000 years old mammoth skeleton.
Limestone Quarry – Here you can dig for fossils and if you don’t have your own tools then you can also rent it.
Museum Berger – It’s the base of the quarry and they displays a lot of geological samples in this museums.
Town Centre – It is dominated by the Dom. The main feature of Town Centre is stained glass windows by Hans Holbein the Elder and the Pappenheimer Altar which is carved from sandstone and a pilgrimage from Pappenheim to Jerusalem.
