Wernigerode is a town in the district of Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Wernigerode has several interesting Gothic buidlings and they are the main attraction center of the tourists such as Schhlob Wernigerode castle which was built in the 12th century but what we see today but the present castle which we see was built between 1862 and 1893 and it includes parts of the medieval building.
The main sights at Wernigerode are: The Harzer Schmalspurbahn - a narrow gauge railway, The Brocken (1141m) - the highest peak in the Harz Mountains, Nordhausen, Wurmberg (971m) is the second higest peak which can be accessed by cable car from Braunlage.
