Koblenz is a city set on both banks of the Rhine at its confluence with the Moselle. Koblenz is the third largest city in Rhineland-Palatinate. Koblenz was one of the military posts which was established by Drusus about 8 BC.

The main sites of Koblenz are -

Ehrenbreitstein - It is a fortress which was built as the backbone of the regional fortification system.  During the World War I, the fortress was used as military headquarter and after World War II, it was used first by the French Army before it was handed over to the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. Today, it is used as a youth hostel, restaurant, museum and archive.

2). Deutsches Eck - A promontory build on a sandbank right at the river confluence.

3). Church of Saint Castor with four towers which was founded in 836 by Louis the Pious. Outside the church you can see a fountain which was erected by the French in 1812 with an inscription to commemorate Napoleon's invasion of Russia.
