Altena

Altena is a town which is in the district of Markischer Kreis in the North-Rhine-Westphalia. Altena is situated on the Lenne river valley.

The biggest attraction of Altena is the castle Burg Altena. The complete reconstruction was finished in the year 1914. In 1912 the first youth hostel inside the castle was created by Richard Schirrmann. Altena castle also has a museum called Drahtmuseum which is dedicated to the wire industry.
