Como, the main town on the well known Como Lake, is a beautiful city in Lombardy, Italy which is just 45 kilometers north of Milan. Como is the capital of the province of Como and it directly borders the Swiss town of Chiasso. The economy of Como is based on industry and it was also world famous for its silk manufacturers. Tourism is also becoming a part of growing the economy of Como.
The main touristic sights of Como are – Duomo is a cathedral which was built in 1457 with the characters of rose window and a portal flanked, San Fedele a Romanesque church, Broletto is an ancient town hall, Villa Olmo, Villa Melzi, Villa Carlotta, Ancient Walls and Castello Baradello.
The Como Lake is surrounded by beautiful villas and resort villages as well as hiking paths. From Como you can take the funicular to the village of Brunate, 720m above Como, for hiking trails and beautiful views of the lake and the Alps.
