Arbatax trekking information

Arbatax derives from Arabic and means the fourteenth tower, the name due to the presence of the Saracen tower that dominates today's seafront. Born as a fishing village from nearby Ponza. Today, however, Arbatax is a part of the village of Tortolì,located near the commercial port of Tortoli, a port for ships that links the island of Sardinia to the mainland.

The great development of the port of Arbatax and Tortoli has enabled to increase the popularity of the region of Ogliastra, behind Tortoli. Today, in fact, Arbatax is a well known destination for those who navigate along the central-eastern coast of Sardinia. Particularly fascinating are Capo Bellavista surrounded by bays of Cala Moresca and Porto Frailis and its famous red rocks.
