Palencia is a province in the region Castilla-Leon. The city of Palencia is the capital that can act as a starting point for the well-known Romanesque route of Palencia, an itinerary across rich medieval heritage around the Pilgrim's Road to Santiago de Compostela. An outstanding building among this route is the monastery of Santa María, in Aguilar de Campoo.
