Poqueira valley trekking information

The Poqueira Valley is a deep cut down the southern face of Sierra Nevada, from the Veleta peak. Through it the Poqueira River carries the melting snows of Sierra Nevada to the sea, past the three ancient villages (from low to high; Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira) that hover over it, as if they were sliding down the slope. The beautiful Valley, carved out millions of years ago by the Poqueira river in its descent from the year round snows above to the sub-tropical coast to the south, is spectacular for its contrasting landscapes. This valley has amazing views of the mountains. And on a clear day you can see the sea. It is a beautiful spot for walking and hiking. You can walk from village to village or do other excursions. There are a lot of activitities and opportunities for a nice and active holiday.
