Sierra Espuna is a beautyful Natural park in the region of Murcia, Spain. There are long distance and interesting short distance walks, less than 50 km, in the north east and north west of the park. In winter, when there is sometimes snow on the hills, the Sierra Espuna's snow 'wells' are well worth a visit. These wells were the equivalent to today's refrigerators and were used to store the snow. There are about 26 in all, located between 1100 and 1400 metres above sea level. Enjoy the rural inns, hotels, campsites and bungalows. Also interesting to visit the fortresses and castles of the Sierra Espuna. You can also visit emblematic places such as the Walls of Leyva, a place preferred by the majority of climbers in the Region of Murcia, for its excellent routes where many events have been held.
