Most people who are doing the Gokyo Trek or Everest Base Camp Trek, will start in Lukla. From here the first stop most likely will be Phakding (2600m). Lukla has an airport. You will get there by airplane in a flight of about half an hour (maybe 45 minutes, maximum) or you can walk from Jiri, which will take about 7 to 8 days walk. It is quite an experience to fly to Lukla, as in the end of the flight it seems like you are going to end against a mountain.
