Trier is a city in Germany and it is the oldest city in Germany founded before 16th BC. It is only one that bases this assertion on having the longest history as a city. Trier is the oldest seat of a Christian bishop north of the Alps. Trier is also a home of the University of Trier.
Trier is recognized for its well-preserved Roman and medieval buildings and museums such as:
1). Trier Cathedral - A Roman Catholic church which dates back to Roman times and it is also a home to the Holy Tunic, a garment which Jesus was wearing when he died. Holy Tunic is exhibited every few decades at irregular intervals.
2). St. Gangolg Church - The city's market church that rivalled the Archibishop's Trier Cathedral
3). Porta Nigra - the best preserved Roman city gate on north of the Alps.
4). Ruins of 3 Roman Baths.
5). Constantine Basilic - It is 67m long throne hall of Roman Emperor Constantine which is used today as a Protestant Church.
6). The Roman Bridge - It is the oldest bridge norht of the Alps.
