Yamunotri (3185m) is the source of the River Yamuna which leies in the northwest Himalayas of Garhwal and it is dominated by the Bandarpoonch peak (6316m). Yamunotri trek is the most adventurous travel trip. It is one of the four pilgrimage centres for the Hindus.
The Yamunotri trek starts from Hanuman Chatti which is 2400m high. There are plenty of accommodations in Chatti where you can stay. There are hot springs and 1 km far from Chatti is a pretty village, Kharsali. Yamunotri trek is only two hours trek which has usual basic guest houses, ashrams and GMNV Tourist Bungalow. Mountains has surrounded the temple which has several hot springs where can take a dip and others where pilgrims cook potatoes and rice to offer as Prasad. There are very few ventures that are tough climb which requires mountaineering skills.
