Yangpachen Monastery

Yangpachen Monastery lies in the Yangachen Valley. This valley is a broad plain laced with streams that open up in front of the Nyenchen Tanglha Range to the north, a part of the trans-Himalaya.

Yangpachen Monastery overlooks a broad sweep of trans-Himalaya peaks. This monastery is headed by Shamar Rinpoche, a leading lama of the Kagyupa order, who is based in India. A home to the monks, this monastery has the mural in the inner vestibule of the main assembly hall, which depicts the god in several of his wrathful animal manifestations. This monastery is the finish point of the Tsurphu to Yangpachen trekking.
