Gokyo village

Gokyo is a small hamlet of stone houses and stone walled pastures which nestles on the lateral morraine of the Ngozumba Glacier. The houses are almost all guest houses. The people who live here in the season are leaving to other villages in the off season. Gokyo village is lying on an altitude of 4791 meter, located on the banks of the third Gokyo Lake (also called Dudh Pokhari). You will visit this nice place, if you will do the trekking Gokyo Lakes, that is widely regarded as one of Nepal’s classic treks. Or you can include it as a part of the Everest Basecamp Trek. If the weather is good in the afternoon on the day you arrive then you can make an ascent of the peak Gokyo Ri (5357 meters). Stunning views of Mount Everest, Lhotse and Cho Oyu (8153 meter) can be seen from the tremendous location. It is nice and recommended to stay in Gokyo a few days. You can do nice day walks and visit some other lakes if you walk in the direction of Cho Oyu (north).
