Jiuhua Shan is one of the China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains. It gives an opportunity to those who loves sports.
Start you hike behind the Zhiyuan Temple which will leads you to the Baisul Gongi, an active temple which was built in 1630 to consecrate the Buddhist monk Wu Xia whose dried up body is layered in gold an sits wrinkled with an ornate glass cabinet in front of a row of pink lotus candles. Or, if you don’t want to do hike then take cable car to the ridge.
From the top, walk to south along the ridge past the Donga Temple to the Huixiang Pavillion. Above it you will see the newly built 10,000 Buddhist Pagoda. A western path from here will take you to the town and the eastern one will take you to a pleasant valley and continues past the Phoenix Pine. The two hours walk hours to the summit is tough. The trail will pass through small temples and nunneries. On the way to the summit you will see the Tianran Guanyin, a rock sculpted by the elements and robed in red that miraculously resembles the Buddhist Goddess of Compassion – Guanyin.
A statue of the Dizang Buddha is seated with the Dizang Hall and also the magnificent 10,000 Buddha Hall has a huge enthroned statue of the Dizang Buddha which gazes at the breathless masses appearing at his feet.
