Baglung trekking information

Baglung is the district headquarters of Baglung District and it is also the zonal headquarter of Dhawalagiri zone which is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal. It lies in the midhills of Nepal and 275 km west of Kathmandu. This small town is also known as Baglung Bazar. It is the trading town of quaint street since ancient times visited by the traders of north and south. It is also the route for trekking to Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Dhorpatan and Dolpo. Different ethnic groups lives here at Baglung. It has got most scenic view of Mount Dhaulagiri. On the way to Baglung you can enjoy the long range of Annapurna Himal towards north. It is also a good starting point for Dhorpatan Huntung Reserve. This reserve is famous for the blue sheep. After the establishment of Pokhara - Baglung Highway, Baglung experience a rapid expansion. You can also use the summer road which connects Baglung to Chaura for your trekking. There are around twenty fice inhabitants in Baglung Bazar. The district has a population of 268,937 as per the statistics of Nepal Government which was counted in the year of 2001. Nepali is the main language spoken in this region but Newari, Gurung, Thakali, Tibetan and Magar is also spoken in this region. The main population of Baglung consists of Chhetri, Magar and Dalits. Majority of people from Baglung follows Hinduism, but you will also see people following Buddhism and Islam also.
